Presented in the picture is a 3J-TVT / AS-I / Pneumatics –equipment

With the industrial bus technology educational platform, exercises are performed to train the installation and operation of industrial bus technologies used in decentralized control systems in modern automation. The equipment consists of a control module, which controls actuator modules with a field bus (AS-I or Profibus /AS-i).

After completing the exercises the student:

  • Can outline a decentralized control system structure with an AS-I and/or Profibus –field bus
  • Is able to identify different types of bus components and masters various related concepts
  • Masters tying signals related to AS-I and/or Profibus –bus types to different bus components
  • Is able to build a working field bus application into an entirety by utilizing automation schematics and manufacturer’s datasheets

Training equipment structure:

The training equipment can be assembled in a modular way from control unit modules and separate actuator modules depending on training needs into either a AS-i –bus educational platform or to contain both Profibus and AS-I –bus solutions in the same educational platform.

The control unit module comprises each field bus application’s required logical- and bus components with the required applications and couplings.

AS-I actuator modules which there are two different types (pneumatic module and a DC-motor module), are connectable to the equipment either independently or together as a working system.

AS-I actuator modules:

AS-I –pneumatic module contains:

  • Cylinders (2 pcs) as actuators and electric valves (traditional and AS-I –component)
  • Magnetic and mechanic proximity sensor as identifiers and “smart” bus-interfaced AS-I –sensors, inductive and optic
  • Required bus interface components
  • An operation panel with diverse operational switches

AS-I –DC-motor module contains:

  • A DC-motor operated (24 VDC) cog belt conveyor and an electrically controlled pneumatic cylinder as actuators
  • Optical and magnetic proximity sensors as identifiers
  • Required AS-I –bus interface components
  • Control panel with operational switches

Profibus- + AS-I –actuator modules, which also there are two different types (DC-motor module and AC-motor module), are also connectable to the equipment separately or as a combination to form a working system.

Profibus- + AS-I –actuator modules:

  • As actuators; a DC-motor operated (24 VDC) cog belt conveyor controlled with a separate amplifying unit -10V… +10V control signal and pneumatic cylinders (2 pcs) controlled with an electric group valve
  • Optical and magnetic proximity sensors as identifiers
  • Required bus interface components
  • Control panel with operational switches

Profibus- + AS-I –AC-motor module contains:

  • As actuators; n AC-motor operated cog belt conveyor (controlled by a parameterizable frequency converter with a bus interface) and an electrically controlled pneumatic cylinder
  • Optical and magnetic proximity sensors as identifiers
  • Required bus interface components
  • Control panel with operational switches
