Use:

With the electronic proximity sensor educational platform the student will learn the basics of commonly occurring installation and maintenance tasks of automation control technology. The educational platform also focuses on exploring sensor values related to proximity sensors. Exercises are developed so that the student meets the level of preparedness required in real life installation tasks.

Goals:

After completing the exercises the student:

  • Is able to independently choose the right type of proximity sensor, which meets the requirements of each identification task and environment
  • Can perform mechanical and electrical installations, adjustments and couplings of proximity sensors to a control system
  • Is able to read electrical circuit diagrams and schematic diagrams
  • In addition, is familiar with troubleshooting possible errors and interferences and removing them
  • While studying, the student relies on a Finnish textbook, which will guide the student through functions of the most common proximity sensors

Equipment:

Training equipment includes:

  • Exercise platform, which contains a power supply, x- and y- slides with rulers, pneumatic actuator, terminal blocks, wiring channels and signal indication
  • Sensor types; mechanical proximity, inductive (3 pcs), capacitive, programmable optical (senses material and reflection, send/receive couple), fiber switch, magnetic switches (reed and magnetoresistive) and an ultrasonic sensor
  • Different types of target objects
  • Installation and wiring accessories
